Over-Wintering Nucleus Colonies

We beekeepers are so lucky up here in Northern New England to have some fantastic mentors. I have been enjoying two swarms who made it home with me one afternoon and took up residence in some old hive equipment in my shed; but in this first week of Autumn winter preps for these nucleus colonies begins. If you are wondering what to do with a small colony here is a link to some great insights and advice from Erin MacGregor Forbes. I very much enjoyed this class as originally presented back in 2012 and draw your attention to the "Wintering The Nucs" - part of an excellent handout from Cumberland County Beekeepers Association, Making Overwintering Nucs Workshop 2012.
